Finnish Lapland Business Development trip, March 2015.
March is the perfect time to visit Lapland. Days are getting longer, the weather is frequently fine, and March is considered to be one of the two best months for viewing the Northern Lights: no pressure then to please a gaggle of incentive agents who had not seen this elusive bucket list staple!
Our experience began with a must for all visitors to Finland, the sauna, and this no ordinary one. Nestled in the woods the Bears Den is like many great venues in the region, owned by Arctic Incentives’ parent company, and a perfect place for a party. And what Finnish party starts without a sauna and a dip in a frozen lake?!
The weekend included many highlights, from the adrenaline-filled drive around the ice track in rally BMWs, dog-sledding two by two with each taking a turn at the helm, and taking snowmobiles to the top of Levi’s ski slopes through the ice-bound forest. But for me it was proving that the Aurora Borealis does exist. On our last night we were dazzled by a jaw-dropping display that lit up the night sky and will dance across my memory for many years to come.
